Family worship through the years

An All Age service

There have been designated children's services since the earliest days and maintaining children's interest has always been important to St James's. This page covers the changes and developments in family worship at St James's through the years.

Until 2016 November

Follow the links below to find out what happened from when records began up until November 2016 when Revd Derek Winterburn became the tenth vicar of St James's.

Family worship through the years

From 2016 November

From December 2016 the occasional All Age services were sometimes held at 1100 or 1000 instead of 0930. These services have been designed to be more informal and accessible for children, without Holy Communion and often using the new overhead screen.

Together at Eleven', a service created to meet especially the needs of families was launched in april 2017. Everyone stayed together in church for worship, teaching and prayer.

To give thanks to God for all animals there was a highly successful pet service in the autumn where pets were welcomed for a blessing. There were hymns, stories and prayers and afterwards both pets and owners enjoyed refreshments. See the photo album.
