All Saints' Day & All Souls' Day

Jesus
When is All Saints' Day & All Souls' Day?
All Saints' Day is a feast celebrated on November 1st and All Souls' Day is on November 2nd.

What does All Saints' Day & All Souls' Day mean?
The festival of All Saints is also sometimes known as All Saints' Day, All Hallows or Hallowmas (Hallow is an old word meaning Saint or Holy, and mas meaning Mass or Holy Communion).

Why do we celebrate All Saints' Day & All Souls' Day?
All Saints' Day is a feast celebrated in the honour of all the saints and martyrs, known and unknown. Saints are Christians who are very holy (dedicated to God) and good people, worthy of honor in some way. Martyrs are people who suffer persecution (being very badly treated) and death for their religious belief, principle or cause.

All Souls' Day celebrates the 'faithful departed'. This is a day of remembrance for our own friends and loved ones who have died.
