Prayer is when we talk to God. We don’t
even have to talk, we can just think or feel
a connection with him. We can pray for other
people or for ourselves, we can say sorry
for what we have done wrong and we can thank
God for all he has given us. God already knows
what is in our hearts and minds. We can be
honest with God, and say exactly how we feel,
or even just sit in silence.
When Jesus' disciples asked him to teach them
how to pray, he taught them a prayer that
has come to be called "The Lord's Prayer".
It is a Christian prayer in Jesus' own words
and is used in many different services in
the church. Jesus was a man of prayer and
he teaches us how to pray by using the Lord's
Prayer as an example and guide. He shows us
the things to bring into our own prayers and
he encourages us to act on these things in
our everyday life. Read the Lord's Prayer:
Our Father
in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever. Amen. |
