There
is much useful, educational and interesting information
on the net, but it is important for you to be careful
use the Cybersafe Code
C
Cyberspace
can be great fun and you can learn a lot from it, but
it could also cause problems. Be careful when using
the internet and follow this cybersafe code.
Y
Your
personal details (name, address, telephone number, passwords)
should always be kept private and secret - this includes
your school and your parents'/guardians' details.
B
Be
careful not to send anyone your picture or anything
else without your parents'/guardians' permission.
E
E-pals
made whilst online are cool but tell your parents/guardians
who you have met and introduce them to your new friends.
R
Remember
that someone online may not be who they say they are
- some people pretend to be someone different. If you
feel uncomfortable or worried in a chat room simply
get out of there!
S
Speak
to your parents/guardians if someone or something makes
you feel uncomfortable or worried. Don't forget, you
can always use the back button or close that particular
page down.
A
Always
ask your parents'/guardians' permission if you want
to meet someone you have contacted online and then only
meet them when your parents/guardians can be present.
F
Follow
your family's/school's rules for the internet because
they are there to make sure you have fun and stay safe
online.
E
E-mails,
attachments, files and web pages shouldn't be opened
from people or organisations you don't really know or
trust because they may contain viruses or nasty messages.
