Jays' work

We often display our work on the notice boards both in church and the hall.

Some more of our activities can be seen on our pages -
'Evan Almighty'
'The Wondrous Gift of Hands'.

Our teachers use a variety of materials which includes booklets for us to take home. They also follow the Church Year.
Advent - Our Jesse Tree
Advent 2007 Intercessions (Prayers)
Mothering Sunday Bed and Breakfast
Remembrance Sunday - prayers
Harvest Festival - prayers and collage

Some other things we have been thinking about:

The gifts God has given us
We looked at the letter from Paul to the Corinthians where he said that God gives lots of different gifts but it is always the same God. The younger ones of us explored this by creating ‘God’s Toolkit’. This was done by decorating templates of hammers, screwdrivers, saws and spanners and writing their talents on them. The older ones of us looked at how we could help other people and came up with the idea of holding a sponsored sleepover and supporting a charity.

Jeremiah and how age doesn’t matter
We illustrated this in drama by acting out how Jeremiah was asked to be a prophet even though he was quite young.

What we need to grow
The younger Sunday School classes looked at what we need to grow and compared ourselves with trees. God's message of ''anyone who depends on people rather than God will have a hard time. They will be like a dried up shrub with no water; trying to live somewhere that does not give them what they need, whereas people who trust in God are like trees rooted in solid earth.'' Examples of trees in the wilderness compared with fruit trees in an orchard were explored in a collage and seeds were planted and taken home for the care and attention that is needed. Modern day temptations were discussed along with abstinance over Lent.

Intercessions (prayers) for the 4th March
Please help all religions to live together in peace. To get those in charge to talk together to stop all the wars. Please let us pray for all those in authority. Our teachers, who need patience to put up with us when we misbehave, wisdom to help us with our tests and kindness in supporting us in our new schools. Alice

Let us pray for the church and for the world, and let us thank God for his goodness. We pray for all those who are suffering in wars, and for those who live in less fortunate countries than us. We thank God for food, and pray for those who don’t have as much food as us. Please look after all our neighbours in Hampton Hill, our neighbours in Europe, Asia, America, Antarctica, Africa and Australasia. Help us all to live together in peace and to help one another. Emma-Lee

Please make those who are sick more comfortable. And give strength to those who have friends or relatives who are sick. We pray for (names taken from the book on the altar). We also pray for those who have recently died and give comfort to those who mourn. Isobel

We hope that our new vicar will settle into his new parish and that we will help him to feel at home. We hope his dog, Paddy, will also be happy in his new home. Laura

Please give strength to those who care for us, our mums and dads, our childminders, our older brothers and sisters, and our grandparents. Help them to be kind and gentle, but also to show us right from wrong. Please give strength and wisdom to the police who are having a difficult time with all the gun crime. Olivia

We thank you for the world we live in, and all that we enjoy from the riches of the earth. Let us pray for the environment, the prevention of global warming and climate change. We pray that all leaders will come together and be united in this goal. Stella

Thoughts for the Day

Thoughts for the Day

The Jays Older Group
The Jays Younger Group

Everything is different
Everything is special
Some things are loved
Some things are disliked
God loves everything

I shall try every day
To be good
To be kind
And to love everyone and everything
