THE CHURCH HALL
|
The church hall
was built in 1994. It is entered through a corridor
from both the church and the outside and, as there are
no steps or slopes, there is perfect wheelchair access.
The main hall is large (approximately 7.5 x 13.75 metres)
and the smaller upstairs room is about 5 metres square.
|
 |
There are tables and chairs for both children and adults
and there is also a piano.
There are several toilets including one for the disabled.
|
|
| The
main hall has an adjoining well-equipped kitchen, with
electric cooker, fridge, microwave, plus crockery and
cutlery for 50-100 people.
There are also wine glasses to welcome friends at our
big occasions as well as electric kettles to help supply
endless cups of coffee and tea.

|
Upstairs, there
is an extra room with its own small kitchenette. There
are tables and chairs for both children and adults.
This room is used for meetings, young people, etc.
|
| Outside,
there is a side garden with shrubs and mock lawn.
There is also a small car park for six cars and plenty
of street parking.
|
|
|

|
The
hall is available for lets up until 11 pm for parties
and social functions, classes, clubs and charitable
fund raising events.
St. James's Church groups benefit from its ambience
at Parish Breakfast on Sunday mornings and charity
soup lunches.
Other regular users are the Nursery School, the Keep
Fit Class, children's dance classes, the Fuchsia Society
and the New Endeavour club for older people. There
are also further lets, often for children's parties.
|
The hall committee manage the hall and ensure that it
continues to be a valuable resource, as well as a useful
source of income, for the parish.
