The Angola-London-Mozambique-Association
had its origins in a link between the Anglican Dioceses of Angola and
Mozambique and the Willesden Area of the London Diocese. In 1998 this
became a diocese-wide link and a covenant was signed by the bishops
committing the dioceses to a mutually enriching partnership. |
The 10th anniversary was celebrated
with a special service at St. Paul's Cathedral on Sunday July 13th.
ALMA reminds churches in two very different settings of their oneness
in the Body of Christ, and the common commitment to the gospel of Jesus
Christ. St. James's supported the diocese-wide Lent Appeal in 2008 for
money to build new schools in Angola and Mozambique. |
| ALMA exists to: help the Dioceses to get to know each other and to learn from one another to help each other in our mission to promote peace in our local and global communities Bishop Dinis writes "ALMA is a sacramental way of saying we care for Jesus' sake. The overflowing love of Jesus has enabled us to care". |

Bishop Richard writes: "From the point of view of London, the premier financial centre in the world, it is clearly vital that we should come to appreciate, with the depth that only personal relationships can bring, the position of countries like Mozambique and Angola, where the human and spiritual resources are very rich and where the legacy of civil war and poverty, together with international debt confronts the country with great economic and social challenges". |
What
Next? Prayer: Please pray for the link, both individually and together in church. Twinning: Many parishes in Mozambique and Angola would like a twin parish in London. Giving: Finance is needed to foster the link through visits and projects. The more that is given, the more that can be done. |
