What Does Y.P.F. Stand For? - 1969 March

Spire Magazine

" "
At the beginning of January, Y.P.F. embarked on a campaign which it hoped would show the youth of the area what erdsted at Wayside.

The campaign had a successful opening with a folk evening controlled by Pete and Dave. The following Saturday there was to be a “Gospel Evening” at the Hall, but this did not go as planned since the group did not arrive; however, Hazel improvised well, and records created a good atmosphere. On this occasion Y.P.F. members were able to talk to newcomers and invite them to meetings.

The next day was meant to be the climax of the “Outreach” campaign - the Evening Service.

This was rearranged to suit the requirements. Some people regretted it wasn’t “gimmicky” or revolutionary, but this was not the intention. On the whole, the service was well received and many favourable comments were heard afterwards.

After the service, a forum was held in Wayside, with a panel consisting of Anne Rathborne (Methodist), Anne Bilton (Congregationalist), the Vicar, and the secretary of Y.P.F., with Alan Taylor in the Chair. Questions from the floor were answered, we hope sincerely and satisfactorily.
