| THE
HISTORY OF ST. JAMES'S CHURCH |
|
Dear Friends, Time flies on more rapidly than we realise and it is now twelve months ago that the Churchwardens first addressed a message to you because our Vicar was ill. During this year we have continued to hope that health would be restored to him so that he could carry on, but most of you will have learned from his letter in last month’s issue that he has decided to relinquish his duties here as Vicar and will be leaving us early next month. We know that this will be a tremendous wrench for him because his ministry in the Parish for 27 years speaks of his affection and devotion to the Church and people in Hampton Hill. Perhaps it has not occurred
to you that of all the Vicars we have had at St. James’ since
the consecration in 1863, the Revd. Fredk. P. P. Harvey’s Incumbercy
is by far the longest duration. As he leaves us, in remembering his
loyalty and service to the Highest Cause to which anyone can consecrate
his life we are sure one and all would thank him for his wish of Good
Luck in the Name of the Lord and respond from the depths of our hearts
:- A subscription list has been
opened for those who would care to contribute towards a token of our
gratitude for Our Vicar’s ministrations, and donations should
be sent to either Mr. Wigginton or Mr. Forrow before the end of the
month which will be the closing date. |
