Change of Vicar - 1913 December

" "
I know you will expect me to say something about my coming departure, but I think I have already said nearly all I have to say about it. having spoken several times publicly, and to many of you privately about it during the last few days.

The kind expressions which have been used and the good feeling that has been shown to us, have made us feel that to have gained the affection of so many is well worth the twenty years work in Hampton Hill. At present it seems likely that we shall be able to stay until the first week in February, but I shall probably cease to be Vicar of Hampton Hill offcially on January 1st.

I hope you will all give a kindly welcome to the Rev. R. Coad Pryor, my successor, who hopes to come into residence the day I leave. Mr. Coad Pryor is a man of many excellent gifts and much experience; he is very popular in Bengeo. and I feel sure that he will quickly find a way into your hearts. I hope that there will be no slackening of interest in S. James' Church on the part of any of you. When a new Vicar comes to a parish it is just the time when everyone’s loyalty and attachment are specially needed, and I ask you to give this warmly and cordially. Mrs. Coad Pryor is an enthusiastic worker amongst women and girls and I am sure you will find in her a helpful friend.
