A New Stained Glass Window - 1907 January

The Hampton Hill Parish Magazine

" "
Another very attractive stained glass window has been placed in the north side of the Church. It has been erected by Mrs. Sale Hall, a former resident in the parish, in memory of her late husband. The figures in the window represent “Faith” and “ Hope.”

The former is most fittingly illustrated by a female figure holding in one hand a cross and with the other clasping a Bible to her bosom. “Hope” is represented by a shepherd who has watched over his flock through the dark hours of the night and is now relieved and gladdened by the sight of the bright morning star which betokens dawn, and already in the distance the light is seen breaking in the sky, clearly showing that “the night is far spent, the day is at hand.” The colouring is soft and bright and the general effect extremely pleasing. The window is a very acceptable addition to the adornment of our Church, and will not be without its suggestive thoughts for those who look upon it. The window has been designed and fixed by Messrs. Heaton, Butler and Bayne.
