Although it is not intended to open the columns of the new Magazine to personal correspondence, the Editor, nevertheless, will be thankful to receive contributions of articles for publication, and any hints which may be suggested for its improvement.

With the hope that some little benefit may result from its publication, this small Magazine is commended to the kind reception of the inhabitants of Hampton Hill.

Harvest Festival
Our Harvest Festival, which was rather late this year, was kept on Friday, October 17th, and the Rev. L. Rivington preached a most excellent and heart-stirring sermon to a very 1arge congregation. The decorations were especially successful this year, and the service was very hearty. Mr. Rivinglon, who is one of the Cowley Mission Clergy, has done, and is still engaged in, a great mission work in India. He is in England now for the purpose of recruiting his health, and hence our good fortune in securing him to preach on this occasion.

Our Schools
The annual visit of H.M. Inspector is expected on the 24th and 26th of this month. It is very unfortunate that an outbreak of measles should have occurred just at this time. The attendance at both the Boys’ and Girls’ School has in consequeuce been considerably reduced, and it has been found necessary to close the Infants’ School for a week or two. The annual subscriptions have this year been collected by eight volunteers. By their exertions a considerably increased amount has been obtained, and there are now upwards of 160 on the subscribers’ list.

Work Meetings
The first Meetitig was held at the Vicarage, on Friday, October 31st, and they will be continued, as usual, throughout the winter months. It may be well to explain that these Work Meetings are in connection with the Ladies’ Association of the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts. Subscriptions are received for this Association, and all the work done is sent through its agency to the Mission in India or Ceylon.

Communicant Classes
These classes are held once a month and their object is to help Communicants to be regular in their attendance at the Sacred Feast, and to induce others who are not yet Communicants to become so. They are also meant to be an assistance in the due preparation which is required of all those who come to the Lord’s Supper. It is intended that there should be a class within reach of all those who have been confirmed, and with that view six classes have already been established and others are contemplated.

Episcopal Visitation
The Lord Bishop of the Diocese intends to hold his Visitation in St. Paul’s Cathedral on Monday and Friday, November 3rd and 7th.

Winter Entertainments
The Winter Entertainments Committee have issued their programme for the season. One Concert was given on Wednesday, October 29th. Another is announced for November 12th; a Parish Tea, November 26th; Dramatic Entertainment, December 10th. After Christmas there is to be a Concert, January 14th; Dramatic Entertainment, January 28th ; and Parish Tea, February 11th."
