| Baptism |
Baptism
is the religious rite which welcomes someone, as a member, into the
Christian Church. It can take place as a baby or as an adult and involves
having water poured over the forehead to cleanse the person from sin.

| Baptistry |
The place where baptism can take place. Originally,
on arriving in the church people had to pass the place of baptism, where
their journey with Christ as members of his Church began. See the page

| Before Christ (B.C.) |
Indicates the number of years 'before Christ' was
born. B.C. is now often replaced by B.C.E. meaning 'Before the Common
Era'. |
| Belfry | The place in a bell tower or steeple where the bells are. See the page The Bell Tower. |
| Bible |
The
Holy Book of the Christians, contains the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament),
the New Testament and sometimes the Apocrypha. |
| Bishop |
The
second most senior rank of Christian minister in the Anglican Church.
Most bishops have an area, called a diocese, which they look after. |

The
area of responsibility of a Bishop. |

The seat in a cathedral occupied by a bishop, from
the Greek cathedra meaning seat.
